Are speedometer drive pinions the same on Minors, Midgets, Sprites etc? Do the ratios differ for different rear diff ratios?

Looking at and extracted from the MOSS parts lists they are all the same.

Morris 948cc - 1098cc...………..Pt No: 2A3420.

MG Midget 948cc - 1098cc......Pt No: 2A3420.

MG Midget 1275cc...…………….Pt No: 2A3420.

Do not loose or damage the pinion as it is listed at £156.00 plus the usual.

No, haven't lost it, I was just pondering that if the pinions were different for different back axle ratios, it would be an easy way to re-calibrate the speedo for a 3.9:1 diff. Obviously not!

The only one that I’m aware of being different is the one fitted to the Series II gearbox (on the 803cc engine, usually combined with a 5.375:1 final drive), which has a different number of teeth. As such, this drive pinion isn’t interchangeable with other Minor gearboxes due to the drive gear on the 3rd motion shaft also being different.
