oil pressure feed for gauge on series 2

Post by niftyrodman »

The pipe that feeds the gauge has a rubber hose in the centre or thereabouts. Where the pipe goes through the firewall is there a grommet, or does the hose suffice.
Thanks

A grommet is always best, particularly if whatever is passing through the hole can vibrate - the grommet is fixed to the metal and any vibration is against the soft material, with no sharp edges involved. Your piece of hose would be rattling against the metal edge and possibly wear away. If the hose is a tight fit in the bulkhead hole, it would be OK.

That is my view of grommets , for what it is worth.
