oil leak at spin on filter housing

Hi people. I have a 2 part query on the go. I have bought an mot'd traveller running project so, at last, having joined the club, I can now proudly display my MMOC sticker!
About an hour after returning home from it's first three mile outing, I noticed oil on the driveway (don't we all I hear you say!) On investgation, it is coming from the spin on oil filter housing between the housing and the block. Now back in the day (of my last tinkering with a traveller) we used red or green Hermatite depending on the whereabouts of the gasket. So my question is what do we use "these days" for gasket sealant if any?
Here's a photo of the car. It appears rotated 45 degrees anticlockwise. Don't know why.
Would you say the colour smoke grey? I've looked in all the suggested places from previous threads on where to find the colour code but no joy.
Thanks for reading.
