Coil mounting bracket

I have just come across an unusual coil bracket, an additional support cradle between the strap brackets of coil and dynamo. The ends of the cradle are curved to fit under the body of the coil as it lies on its side. I’ve never seen one before, is it an original Morris fitting? The mounting holes show signs of having been filed so perhaps it began life on another vehicle. The question is, is it necessary or even beneficial? See the pic.

Looks like it would give the coil more support but I don't think it's an original fitment.

The bracket (Pt No: 11G221(MOSS)) shown is usually fitted where the coil is subject to vibration or movement.

It does keep the coil firmly in place and reduces the possibility of the coil mount bracket fracturing.

Not normally required on a Minor unless the car is constantly subject to bad roads but was fitted to some Minor 948cc/1098cc models from car No: 338930.

Thanks Phil and Alan. I don’t think my use will be arduous enough to need it, not even over Hampshire road surfaces.
