1275 cc Oil Leak

I have an oil leak which i believe is coming out of the oil dipstick.
The engine is a low milage Ivor Searl build so im thinking its not worn pistons an high crancase pressure.
The dipstick is loose in the tube and is steel
It does have a felt washer on the base.
I have seen plastic dipsticks advertised which appear to have an O ring fitted for use on all A series engines
Has anyone any experience of these ?

My 1098 has the plastic tube and does not leak, I'm unable to say if that's better than a steel one!

Crank cases will always get some blow-by from the pistons. Checking that the crankcase ventilation is working properly would be first on my list - after checking to see if there is a positive pressure in there.

Fitt a rubber grommet that is a snug fit on the dipstick and the plastic tube.

Looking at your pictures on the air filter thread, You will reduce the crankcase pressure if you purchase a oil catch pipe
http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/12A1735.aspx and fit it from the oil catch canister (front of the engine with small filter fitted) to the blanked off inlet on the rear side of the carb (near the fuel pipe)

Oil leak now sorted
I fitted a seal on the dipstick and also fitted the oil pipe from minispares and its sorted
thanks all
