3.9 diff with 1275 engine

Evening all.
I have recently finished fitting a "new" 3.9 diff, which seems to suit my 1275 engine perfectly. However, the car now sounds like the bus, which used to take me to school in the 1960's.
Can anyone suggest a remedy/fix for this, or must I continue my search and accept that if I buy from ebay I have to take my chances?
Any contributions would be welcome.
PS. the diff looked undamaged, and had no more play than my old, silent diff.

I am afraid there is no easy remedy to cure a noisy diff other than total overhaul or replacement.

Did you tighten the propshaft flange nut in the process of fitting the diff?

It may be that the diff bearings have corrosion in the races if the diff has not been used for some time and left exposed to the elements.

Molyslip (modern sawdust!) can quieten them down a bit but a recon diff is the only proper answer. :(

Thanks all for replies.
I have found a specialist diff rebuilder near to me, so I suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet. At least this way I should get a diff which will last the lifetime of the car.
