Torsion bars

Hi I have a perfectly good pair of torsion bars is there any way of determining which one is for the offside and which for the near side
I had a pair of bars, fortunately the rear arms were still attached. This enables me to verify right from left by noting the underseal on the arms, the tops having less or no covering. Only helpful to you if you also still have the arms attached to the bars.
Other that that, another option is to try to work out any wear on the splines, showing the direction of twist.
