My recently purchased Traveller passed its MoT yesterday. First time in 6 years I think.

I will have my first drive at the weekend. Really looking forward to it.

I guess it promises to be unreliable at first as it has not had much work or use (good service, new electronic fuel pump, electronic distributor, sports coil, new leads).

I have only had one Minor before and this promises to be far superior

An MOT is a good start. Yes, you might have a few teething troubles but a Minor is a simple and generally reliable car. I must admit that with reliability in mind, I have steered well clear of anything "electronic" on my own Minor but each to his own. I think it all depends on the quality of the parts used and many owners have found that new parts available for these cars now are not as good quality as the originals.
Coils being one good example for a start.

I assume for it to gain an MOT without you driving it that you haven't been doing the work yourself?

Indeed, my thoughts concur with those of 'ManyMinors'. Whilst some swear by these electronic gizmos, there have been plenty of posts here about the failure of such items. At least with the old points set-up you have a good chance of fixing by the side of the road - especially if you carry a spare set of points and a good condensor (from the Distributor Doctor). If the electronic dizzy fails in the middle of a dark and stormy night in the middle of BFN, you are probably up the proverbial creek.....

I’m not very handy hence the desire for some modern bits. When they go, they really go, but generally they work well. They certainly divide opinion.
I work in Jersey but divide my weekends between Bromsgrove and Pontypridd so just don’t have any time.

Which is why I eventually had to change my coil......
I've still got the duff one. if I get a spare hour I might carefully cut the top off to see if I can find the break in the winding. Probably be a minuscule thing that I won't notice, but I'm still curious....
