Hello
Ive just bought a 1965 saloon. 1098cc.
Looking at my distributor the cap looks like one that should be fitted to a 950 cc minor, ie leads coming out the side of the cap not the top.
The engine number starts 10 M so it is a 1098cc engine
Could the wrong cap be fitted only our would it have to be the wrong distributor as well. I need to know so I can get new point etc and a new cap or a whole new distributor.
Thanks in anticipation
Mark

The correct type for your car is the 25D4. No.40849B(high comp)
which was introduced from engine no. ...604228 the side entry and top entry caps are both available for this
unit. I prefer the side entry as they give a neater layout...
you may prefer the other type.

thanks

Sorry to butt into this thread but i've been interested for some time now in the internals of these distributors, ie the number of degrees stamped on the toe of the main spindle. it seems that any number of variations will physically go in, but the correct one for a 1098 high comp engine is what i'm looking for. Any ideas where I can get this info please?

LES, I can't find any info re your query....I would suggest
LUCAS themselves, they should have a technical advice
department but I cannot find a web site address.

This is not an exact answer but if you go into Google and type:
Lucas 25D4
There are lots of possible sites to investigate.

thanks for your replies, I have got a lot of information from following the suggestion to use google, although not my specific query as yet. May end up contacting lucas as well.
