Hello. I'm just in the process of replacing a lot of rusty metal on the rear inner wing of my 1970 Traveller. I've done the inside section of the spring hanger. I've cut away what's left of the old the inner wing (good grief! what a mess) and I'm just fitting a replacement. The Inner wing has all the holes for the spring shackle and the damper arm mounting.
Do i need to put an extra plate on the outside to reinforce the new inner wing or is the inner wing strong enough on it's own?

Hi you should fit the shipping bracket to the outside, you can cut off the eye part if you are worried about a rust trap...

Taupe. I was in the process of getting my front-end-checking-jig made into a CAD file for laser cutting. Are there any changes to the design you would suggest I incorporate?

With regards to that plate, it seems to be the most awful water trap since it can't be welded nicely at the back and looks far to weak to safely LIFT the car. Surely they didn't put 2 on every single car just as a tie-down?

Are you using Ground Stock for the flat bars?

The key thing with the jig is to be very careful when welding it to keep it all square and in alignment, I also used bronze where the pins are fitted so that rust didnt make the pins stick!

I think the plates primary purpose is a reinforcement for the spring mount but its good for tying down to the deck on car ferries in the day...

Would it be the same dimensions for a series mm as well
