That was the Metro > Rover 100.
The Allegro was supposed to be the 'new car for Europe!' and yet another fine example of how committees can wreck car development. The original design by Harris Mann was truly great but after the compromises it turned out a bit naff. Such a shame. Bit of an underdog the Allegro which is why I think I feel for it so much, plus we had a few and they were fab!
Oh and we had some of the cars that it replaced too: The Austin 1100/1300!
I liked those as well.
Can you tell I'm a bit of a BL fan?

I was attempting a copy & paste but keep losing it after the copy! I've got both this posting and my site open and am trying to copy and paste between them. No question marks or gif involved . Back to the notes I s'pose. MikeN.

Thanks for the pointer, Big Ging. I see that Wanadoo website builder is only restricted on size for the home page. Other pages go to 400x something, which will do the trick - when it speeds up enough to do it! Dead slow at the moment. Taa! MikeN.
