Engine Age ?

Hello

I have just been looking at my spare engine and was wondering if anyone can tell me its year of manufacture please.

The number is 10MA-U-H 141152
According to my Ray Newell Traveller book it means :-

10 = 1098cc 1962 to 1969
M = Morris
A = Variant ??
U = Remote centre gear change
H = High Compression

My November 1969 Traveller currently has a 10V189-E-H prefix engine fitted, so is presumably the original one.
A 10MA engine is obviously a bit earlier, but can anyone pin it down a bit closer than 62 to 69 please ?

I assume there will be no physical differences between the basic units, and all the normal reconditioning parts will fit either one.

Thanks
Phil

Hi Mr.P.

Looking at around mid '65.

A Minor in the 110xxxx - 111xxxx chassis range with a "C" regn. suffix.

Does this help?

Hi

Thanks very much for that information, I dont think it makes a lot of difference being about four years older than the car I will be putting it in.
The overall unit will be pretty much the same spec as the 1969 version as far as I know.

Phil

Happy to help

Think(?) It's just the breather pipe & poss rocker box different.

"Number" details from your Traveller much appreciated.
