steering column

ello, when i rebuild splitty im putting in a 1098later wiring loom in ,so has anyone done this to a car with no origanol provision for this on column, i want indicator stalk where there is none, hopfuly its a bolt on job,dont want to change column ,cheers steve

Steve, I don't see there being a problem with this.

As far as I can remember they should bolt on. Of course, your other alternative is to try to get an aftermarket flash/indicate switch from somewhere like ESM. That should fix onto the steering column shroud IIRC

The columns are very different. On the later (indicator style) ones they have the mounting provision on the tube which the earlier columns don't have.

If you have to change the column then the steering wheel won't fit as the earlier (flat 3-spoke type) is secured via a woodruff key and not a spline like the later ones...........

Why not keep the original column and wheel, but maybe wire the indicators into the trafficator switch? Just an idea..... or did you REALLY want an indicator stalk? If you do then you'll have to make something up with a tube that's a hybrid of the two systems.

Well, not really. You see, the column on the early cars does not have a shroud. If it did, then your comments were correct.
