How often should the oil be replaced?
How much do they hold?
Finally what is the best way to drain the old oil?

Thanks

If you do not know if the damper oil has been changed now is the time to do it. I would suggest every 10 years or sooner dependent upon the vehicle usage...…………...If the oil smells horrible it is time to change the oil.
Replace the damper oil with a straight SAE 30 oil and a small container (1 litre) is all you need.
Fill to 10mm below the threads of the filler plug. Exercise the damper arm to expel all the air. Check oil level after a few miles of running.
To drain remove the large plug at the bottom but make sure that you account for the all the washers and valve.

Anyone got any like this? I've never seen any in the flesh and wondered how many were made like this. Series MM cars all have the hole in the front inner wing to fit these.

Luvex dampers.

My 1958 Minor has the holes in the wing even though fitted with the later dampers.

This company repairs the dampers;-

The additional holes in the crossmember where used for mounting the Luvex dampers.
Why the additional holes were not omitted when the later dampers were fitted is unknown(?).
