The ital frontplate has 2 holes in it - one for the tensioner and an extra one for holding the timing chain cover on - which aren't in the minor one. I'm presuming I just have to drill the holes out to match, yes?

Yes - i had to do this when fitting a tensioner (ex Mini) to my spare 1098 Minor engine - you need to drill a little hole in the backplate for the tensioner swivel pin to seat into. Just be sure no swarf can go in to the engine. The hole is only so deep - not right through !! There is also a bolt hole missing - on my engine drilling this was going to be very close to the block - no room for a nut - so I just ignored it. Plenty other bolts holding the cover on !
