Has anyone on here had experience of vehicle lifts like this one:

Would the position of the lifting surfaces (ie along each sill) be suitable, or would it not provide enough support for the car? Not looking to buy one (yet) but am interested in options I may have to safely lift my car in a rented garage with no power.

I don't see why it wouldn't be OK, a Moggie is pretty light compared to most modern cars, you only have to look at the fact that there is only one jacking point either side to lift the whole side up at once for a tyre change!!
Might be some issue around finding enough flat area to lift without some packing though, because of that jacking point being in the mid position.

I bought a large 'Farm trailer' which is opened out in the middle so I can drive up onto it and then slide easily underneath. Mobile, but it has no suspension so limited use as a car transporter (max 750kg allowed, I think)
Local garage offered me a used 'Pro' lift that they no longer wanted but the cost of new safety nuts etc was quite expensive.

Just googled 'safety nuts' but it showed lock nuts and tamper proof only. What are these nuts?

My father has one of these http://www.hamercarlift.com/ and I find it very good. Being hand operated, I don't think it would be fast enough for Kwik Fit and the like but for DIY use it's simple and it can be taken apart if you don't want it in place all the time.

I have a set of these https://www.cjautos.eu/product_p/cr012.htm and they seem to work (Not the most oil tight). A pair each end would no doubt work but I have just the one pair. As you don't have to drive up them, as with other types of ramp, the ones I have are a lot better when you are working by yourself.

I have invested in one of these and I wonder how I ever managed before without it.
