Racing fuel pump

It is still quite warm at the moment ( 35°) and today in stop -go traffic I could hear the fuel pump racing away at a rate of knots, or perhaps trying to. The performance of the engine did not seem to suffer and it was not overheating. Afterwards on the open road it went back to the normal tick....tick.... tick depending on load.

Could this be the fuel vapourisation mentioned here on the forum sometimes?

More than likely. Mine's been doing the same thing in recent (warm) weeks.

You need to fit Mr Grumpys heat deflecting kit.

Yes I have seen this being posted here on the forum before. Even though the pump seemed to be going mad, the performance of the engine was faultless as ever. ....From tomorrow normal summer temps are foreseen, so the problem (if indeed it is a problem) may not occur again this year.
If it does , then perhaps it is for another reason.
