I'm plagued with a wet carpet and underlay in the floor pan behind the drivers seat on my traveller. I have removed the carpets and had a good look around but can't see any sign of ingress.

I'm wondering if it might be coming in under the window guides and running down the back of the trim board. The drain holes in the timber are clear. The sill carpet is dry, though it has come inglued at the rear.

Any experience greatly appreciated!

From the cab/ rear roof, area down the b post and into the car.

Or from the box section under the seat. Shine a torch through the holes in the top after the car has been out in the rain and see if there is water in there.

yes mate ,johns right it wont be coming in at floor level but higher ,has your car got trafficators,if so it will come in there,or door seals,also be worthwhile taking off kickplates and see if sill contains h2o,steve

So many choices
as mentioned - mainly from above:
door seals, traficators, side windows, rear wheel arches, roof etc...
from floor level:
rear spring front hangers, sills,

Water that comes in anywhere behind the rear floor pan will trickle down and end under the rear sea - from there it can pass through the spot welded eam and into the rear floor pan as that is the lowest point. Also it can come from the front very easily - especially if you park facing uphill.

Thanks all, I'm pretty sure its not the box section that's all lovely and dry, so I'll persevere with the side windows and door seals. Only the drivers side affected and the car's completely weather proof apart from this. Grrr.

I've had several examples of the sealant between the ally panels and the wood drying and cracking. The last wo times I went down the same route as you, but cured the leak by running some fresh sealant around the join between wood and aluminium, particularly along the bottom of the forward side panel, and over its wheel arch section. Good luck.

If you do need some new sealant make sure you use the right one its called Dum Dum and made by Eldro and here is some for sale

Well I removed the inner timber side rail and redid the dum dum and the problem seems to have disappeared! Hooray!

Oh dear the problem has returned. However I have followed simmitc advice and had a good look at the sealer and low and behold it's cracked on the leading edge of the rear wheel arch.

Now suitably dum dummed and we'll dry the carpets and felt and try again!
