I wonder if any of you will be able to help me.

I am trying to trace if a Morris Minor 1000th was ever sold to Gurnsey and if there is any way of finding out who it was sold to.

The year for this would be approximatley 1965.

A friend of mine is doing some research on this, so any help or pointers of where I could find this information out would be much appreciated.

Hi, Gemma.

Do you mean one of the 200 odd Lilac Minor Millions? There is a Minor Million register who would probably be the best point of contact. Hopefully one of the knowledgeable people from this forum know the contact details, because I don't.

I thought they made 350? 1000000 until 1000350 ? Even though there might just be 1 on Gurnsey. I don't think we have got any...

I think Ray is right. The millionth minor was a normal production model given the number 1000000. Then 349 lilac models were produced in celebration.

Hi all

To clarify - The Minor Millions were given chassis nos out of sequence. The first being 1000000 registered as 1 MHU assembled on 22 Dec 1960 - used extensively for publicity during 1961 - then there were 349 "replicas" made - chassis nos 1000001 - 1000349. These 349 were distributed to main dealers throughout UK, Channel Isles, Europe & North America 30 being left hand drive.

I presume the records at BMIHT - Gaydon would have the exact deler details for each one.

Hope this helps

To follow on from Vernons point - the actual millionth car made would have received a "normal" chassis no whatever they were up to (ie not 1000000 as the sequence started at 501 and some were missed out). It was to celebrate I million production that the limited edition of 350 total was made.

John Presnell, in his book, also gives a total of 350 made.
Gurnesy - is that the place where they pull strange faces?
As opposed to Guernsey which is one of the Channel Islands.
