Gravity never worked for me, I found the only way to bleed a new braking system is to start at the front offside instead of the rear. Once you get fluid into the system the air will soon bleed out.

If you do not have a servo fitted, the engine will have absolutely no effect on the braking system. With a servo, running the engine helps.

I’ve always followed the literature advice re order of bleeding and, whilst having trouble at times, have always got the air out. Most problems have arisen when trying to bleed the brakes using my wife as the pedal operator!

When I had a servo fitted I did use gravity to bleed but it took a while. There are faster more reliable methods and 1 man bleed kits available just keep an eye on the MC to ensure the fluid doesn't run low.
