oily rags2

Post by chas1 »

Hey,
thanks for all the advice on my previous post. I'l tell you what I've found. The inlet/outlet that goes into the air filter is sending a slight amount of oil into the airfilter but some was going into the engine bay. Short term, ran a new length of pipe away from the air filter and out the back of the engine, replaced air filter. The long term solution.
Is the oil coming out of this breather hose indicative of worn piston rings/ valve guides? I did a compression test and found it to be about 150psi across all 4 cylinders. If it is valve guides, I'm thinking of taking the opportunity now, with the phasing out of 4 star in may, and the cost of having the valve guides replaced and new seats put in, of changing to an unleaded head, will one from say a 1990 mini be an easy exchange, if not has anyone got one they're thinking of selling?
Chas
PS Does anyone know the paint code for the white paint for the wheels, someone primed but never painted the ones on mine before I bought her

I believe that the paint code for Old English White is WT3.

This is what I have my wheels painted in.
