beware strange ads

There seems to be a flurry of rather dubious looking ads for classic cars on ebay at the moment. Odd features include a lack of location or just uk, very low start price, motley photos taken in different places, strange grammar and that old one ‘selling on someone else’s behalf’.
If you fancy another car don’t hand over any cash, not even a deposit, until you are sure the car exists and the vendor is entitled to sell it

There was a similar rash of dodgy ones before Xmas, I reported dozens to ebay and they suddenly vanished!

These ads now seem to be reappearing on a daily basis, using the same photos but under different sellers.
As far as I can make out people are hacking genuine sellers accounts and then steering enquirers to use email rather than ebay messages, then presumably asking for money at some point.
Ebay are going to have to deal with this or their whole system will fall into disrepute.

Do what I do, report all obvious scam listings you see.

I have just reported the same Austin 7 Ruby 1936 for the second time today being listed by different sellers. (292435924502)
When you look at their other items for sale there are 135 high value vehicles all starting at £0.99, yeah right !!!

A lot of suspect stuff from the same seller... Escort Mexico, RS2000, Zodiac, Daimler, Airstream caravan... all too good to be true.
Different issues, but not too happy with item 192445444284. 1967 E-reg Minor 4-dr with MAS5 car number, but clap-hands wipers, trafficators, small lights, gold speedo, twin glove-box lids etc.

One of the reasons I've taken so long trying to find the right Minor is that there is an awful lot of cars for sale that are not what it says on the V5. In the event of an insurance claim a whole world of pain would follow. I've also notice a number of cars that keep re-appearing after a few month - moving problems on?
