Stalling

I have had a horrible, seemingly incurable misfire for months. Tried everything – except putting in a new distributor. So last week I went for it and changed the car's polarity and put in an Accuspark electronic ignition distributor. The misfire has finally disappeared and the car is running great – EXCEPT it now keeps stalling. If I'm in stop-start traffic, it stalls every time I have to stop. The idle speed is set higher than it should be, but the revs still drop to zero when I have to slow to a stop. When you start it again, it idles fine (if a bit rough). Any ideas?

try backing of the timing a little

The correct engine idling speed for the Minor engine is that when the clutch pedal is depressed the ignition light will start to flicker, the engine revs should slow down but the engine will not stop.

It could be running a little lean - is the vac line to the dizzy OK?

Clive - as per the reply in your other post on the same subject - have you checked that the timing is OK given that you've changed the distributor? That can upset the idle, which is why I suggested it

My timing certainly went way out when I swapped to the magnetic pickup type and they're quite tricky to try and time statically. I assume the vacuum advance is connected and wasn't missed?
I did it by advancing until the car tried to kick back on the starter, then back a millimetre or so. Ended up at 6-8 BTDC (with vac disconnected) at idle on a more standard engine, current one is at 10 BTDC. Once that's done it may need the mixture re-adjusted.
