Can someone tell me how to make a DIY tracking gauge or better still do a diagram - I'm sure I've read a thread on here talking about a dexion frame but I can't find it!

I built one several years back but only ever used it once. It is not really worth the hassle.
Google the "piece of string " method.

I've had a look on YouTube as you suggested but I'm a bit confused as to where to measure - some show measurements being taken to the front and back of the tyre and some to the wheel rim, surely the same toe in can't be used for both places. Where is the 3mm toe in for the Morris supposed to be measured. One of the methods shows measurements being taken with the vehicle jacked up i.e..with the suspension hanging - will this be OK or should it be measured with the wheels on the ground?

You wanna be measuring off the wheels. Wheels on the ground and you want to drive forwards and backwards abit then check again. It's fairly accurate doing it the string method.
