Looking at this Engine ....

Post by JustinMinor1000 »

What does the assembled think ..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... otohosting

I thought £100 is rather optimistic for an "Unknown" moggie engine and gearbox ...

But it's close .. what sort of offer should one make ?

Of course if anyone else wants it help yourself ..

Funniest looking alternator I've ever seen!

Your right Justin it is very unknown and by the look of the paintwork he's just painted it to look good to get more money!

The gearbox doesn't even look like a minor box, since when has the clutch inspection rubber been on the top of the bellhousing???

For ever!
Looks like a Minor box with a strange gear lever to me, too pricey for an unknown I'd have thought!

Funny then how every 1098 gearbox I've ever seen the inspection cover is in the same place but opposite side to the clutch linkage hole! Never ever seen one on the top, only on Marina's and Ital's!

I wasn't sure about the gear lever either .. it could suggest "a custom car" application (as the silver rocker cover would) ...

In my opinion (and totally uneducated at that) £30 would be what it's worth to me. On the other hand I'm not going to offer £30 to someone who thinks it's worth £100.

If anyone makes a deal with the guy I'm happy to collect and store until you can collect from me.

He's Slough I'm Henley-on-Thames

The one one the other side is also a clutch linkage hole (LHD and RHD share the same bellhousing)

And what's going on where the heater valve should be? :-?
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

my best guess was that it was used in his MG TD chassis whilst the 1275 MG engine was being rebuilt.
That would certainly explain the colour scheme, rocker cover and gearstick angle.

??
Couldn't see a tractor on his feeback - could only dee the MG TD with an identical colour scheme on the (freshly rebuilt) engine.
