Painted or stainless window frames
Which is correct, painted or stainless window frames, or was there a change over at a particular year? I've seen a comment that stainless were only fitted to travellers, but I've seen stainless fitted to quite a few saloons. I've tried looking it up but couldn't find any mention of a changeover.

According to Ray Newell's book. Stainless steel frames were fitted to all 4-door saloons whether deluxe or not. 2-doors and convertibles had painted frames (although retro-fitted stainless steel ones are common these days). Travellers had stainless steel frames. Vans/pickups had painted frames. Most, if not all early Series MM cars had chrome-plated frames.
