Clutch link mechanism query

Hi All
I have a clutch link mechanism query, mine is rattling and looks as though the cotter pins are to long, I cant get a decent photo, I can see that it only has thin washers where the split pin is bent over.
I have photographed a set of linkages of an old scrap car, this looks as though it was fitted properly, is it correct?

You can always fit my rose jointed linkages-no more play in the linkage.

Whilst Declan's linkage is superb and is the preferred option you can pack equally either side of the linkage with suitable washers to take out any slack.

Those fitting look very tidy Declan.

For now it will be washers but Declan's fitting is very smart, still like to know what is supposed to be there?

Looking at your photos I would suggest that your clutch release mechanism is worn and needs to be replaced.

You should have washers on both sides of the components, possibly more to take up the slack, and importantly to keep the bars parallel alone their length. The split pin in your picture needs bending more. Incidentally split pins should have one leg only bent out to secure, not both.

The original set up uses a combination of plain washers and anti-rattle or 'wavy' washers, but with a strong clutch pedal return spring, I would not expect much rattling anyway? The pad at the top of the clutch pedal should have some foam rubber on it, to prevent any noise between the clutch pedal and the transmission tunnel.

Hi all
have put it all back together with the the washers including the 'wavy' washers (that I incorrectly called spring washers) from my spare bits and its now fine. Unlike the person who originally put it together I greased all the bits on assembly, one more squeak eliminated.
