What's this plate

Post by GavinL »

I had assumed the info on the plate below which was fixed to the near side engine bay bulkhead related to the paint colour, but I can't find any explanation on the forums - any help welcome, thanks.

Its the body number. Don't think it relates to paint info.

It's not a good idea to advertise your vehicle details on the web.

Ah - didn't realise it was the chassis number as it isn't on the log book, so I've deleted the image.

Safest to do so. It's not the chassis number though. Body number is different altogether. Chassis number should be on the large plate on drivers side of bulkhead. Should start either SMM, F** or MA** depending on age of car (later vans and pickups had different prefixes I think) and should also match the VIN number quoted on the V5 :D
Just found some of your other posts. 1968 saloon should start MAS5 (4 door) or MA2S5 (2 door).
