Side valve questions

Hi MM dabblers, (is dabbler correct English ?)

After 15 years stand still I have the Morris Minor wake up for a complete mid live conversion. Today I am starting the engine after a little preparation. The engine run well (what a delicious sound) and now the engine is out the car for a thoroughly service.

I am missing the oil-fill cap of the engine.
Who can tell me how an original cap sees out? I have seen caps with Oil Company’s names and also plastic caps.

What is the original colour of a side valve engine from 1952? Engine nr: 135038.

Beforehand many thanks,

Greetings from Holland,

Wimor

Hi Wimor!

I don't understand what you mean by 'sees out'. If you need a cap then get in touch with the club spares and they should be able to supply one for you. Club spares contact information is listed the in the MMOC Minor Matters magazine.

The original colour of the sidevalve engines is a tricky one, especially for 1952. They could be either grey or green, but the replacement engines were black or gold. I have asked MANY people for a definate answer on this issue (having a 1952 car myself) and I can't get a certain answer!
