Hi all I have just started to convert the front brakes and I have also purchased a brake servo but I'm not sure of the best location for it. Does anyone have any advice and or photos please?

Most people I have seen put it on to the RHS (NS) of the engine bay. They are bulky ugly beasts and that side means that they do not interfere with access to the dynamo / alternator and starter motor as well as the distributor .

That said many of the ox on this search show then on the LHS (OS)

I'm the opposite. Heh heh. Driver's side to keep it away from the exhaust heat. Seems to work ok for me and most of the other things mentioned don't get in the way. Sorry photo isn't too clear with a black servo in a black engine bay.

sorry, here it is or maybe it isn't. Anyway, driver's side for me.

It is also fitted on the left side in mine.

I would be interested to know if there is any way of telling if it actually works or not? By all accounts it does not make the Brakes perform any better but should require less pressure on the pedal................. I have never really been able to determine if this is true or not. Can anyone enlighten me?

Remove the power supply and do a real world test? Very obvious with disc brakes as the difference is far more pronounced than with drums, I would think. I've never ever bothered to fit an in-line servo to an all drum brake system.

A different grade of pad was often used with servo'd discs compared to the non-servo equivalents.

Before fitting the servo I measured the pressure output from the master cylinder....approx 1000psi,after fitting a 1.6:1 servo approx 1500 psi,still not the correct feel so fitted a 2.8:1 servo.....2400psi and feeling better.
