The 62 saloon has got a bit tired at the rear end, so I will be doing some work on her soon. The original plan is to fit long stroke tele shockers into turrets welded so that they kicked in (like the van, but probably at half the angle to make them a bit softer, but still helping to locate the axle), but I've seen that there is a coil over kit available. As this has the shockers at the same angle as the vans (which must make them very short stroke, like a mini, and having run mini shocks like this on a saloon before I know how hard it made the ride) I'm interested in what having the springs on actually does to the ride. It looks like it keeps the normal springs, so it must only make the ride harsher.
Has anyone got any experience of running these please?

This is my view and I realise it does not fully answer your question & others may think differently.
I would suggest as you have concluded that fitting the coil springs as well as retaining the leaf springs will make the rear springing much firmer - possibly more than you may wish for.
What I would suggest is that a pair of good quality rear springs with poly bushes (including poly spring seats) are fitted with a pair of serviceable standard dampers and bump stops should see the rear of your car stiffen up nicely.

Indeed it is, and it does seem an odd setup keeping the standard springs. The mini shocks inclined like the vans really did make a difference to the way the car handled: The body roll disappeared, and when you put the power down she squatted down at the rear, but because they are short travel, the ride was hard.
I think I'll save my money and re-bush with poly all round and then fit my long stroke teles as I originally planned.
Hopefully the long stroke will make a difference (I may even push the boat out and fit new springs too! Anyone ever got spring re-tempered or bought the springs from anywhere other than the moggy suppliers?)

The NOS 7 leaf rear springs on my Minor were reset/re-tempered to lower the car by 2" and they have never ever been a problem.
