Video tutorials/suspension rebuild

I am currently looking to find out why the near side front suspension started squeaking and am about to attempt to replace the bushes on the top trunnion. The real issue I have encountered since owning my first Morris minor and the fact that I do not have any kind of mechanical background is understanding the jargon used. With this in mind has anyone considered putting on some video tutorials to help us newbies? I appreciate the fact that sometimes you have to just go for it but my limited funds make this approach a possible nightmare.
Anyway your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

James

There are a number of reasons why the suspension develops a squeak and now is a good time to learn about your car. I have seen a number of tutorials on Youtube but not sure I've seen any specific suspension rebuild video .... maybe worth having a look. Do you have a workshop manual ? Sat next to the car with manual in hand, reading the jargon and looking at your car would probably help identification of parts. Google "morris minor workshop manual" for a free download

If you have trouble finding the PDF of the original owners manual which I believe is now out of copyright, here is a link from 'the other place' (SHHH)!

The Morris Minor front suspension must be one of the most simplest and easiest types of suspension to overhaul.
The only point to be aware of is the latent energy in the torsion bar and care must be exercised when disconnecting the top trunnion eye from the top lever pin. Just make sure that the car is secure on axle stands before dismantling and chocks are placed at the front and back of the rear wheels.
The squeak may be the that the eye bolt bushes have worn out and the pin is rubbing against the eye of the eye bolt.
Fit Poly bushes when rebuilding.
Read and digest the workshop manual section on front suspension and do the job methodically and slowly.

If you have any doubts to your ability to do the job give the job to a reputable Morris Minor mechanic.

If you're anything like I am/was and don't know your trunnion from your eyebolt or ball-joint - perhaps have a chat with some local club members as it can be a steep learning curve.
