The Drivers' Handbook gives tyre pressures for cross ply tyres (22psi front & 24 psi rear) but no info. for radial ply specifically for the Traveller. With only two people in the vehicle, and not much in back, what are the ideal radial tyre pressures?

Can of worms your opening here. Try from tho pressures upto 30 psi. You'll get loads of different opinions.

The later handbooks give recommended tyre pressures for the 145/14 radial ply tyres - which were an optional fitment - of 24psi front
and 26psi rear. Use that as a starting point. Some owners prefer to run at slightly higher pressures.

Yes, we've done all this many times over! Best thing is to experiment and see what suits you. Starting from 26 ish all round might not be a bad place to start.

I run 30 psi front and back in my 1970 Traveller fitted with LP917 van rims and 165/70R14 radials. I used to religiously stick to the handbook 24/26 psi, but followed some advice on here or another Minor forum, and 30 psi all round seems to suit it pretty well.

There you go... we all differ ,but within sensible boundaries.

30 for me. It does improve mpg - less tyre surface in contact with the road..........

So possibly less grip and more wear on one part of the tyre but if you are fully loaded it probably compensates

I don't think you can go too far wrong with around the 30 psi mark - most car manufacturers recommend figures around that these days.

For instance, today I had to pump up a 2004 Ford Ka's tyres - 30 psi front, 26 psi rear. My little daily hack 2002 Vauxhall Corsa is similar - 32 psi front, 26 psi out back. Both being fairly light 'supermini' front-engined, front-wheel drive cars, of course, yet both a fair bit heavier than a Minor at around the 1,000kg mark; a standard 2-door Minor 1000 weighs in at 764 kg, while even a Traveller, the heaviest Minor (passenger car) variant only weighs in at 826 kg!

Only something really titchy like the Citroen C1 gets anywhere close to that nowadays.

Yes, the C1/ pug 107 are good at about 28psi. Fun little cars too.

Running 30 on all corners with radials.

Seems to be ok with even tread wear.

im running 30 psi on mine i have 185 alloys on mine . and 30 on my saab 900
