Morris Minor Owners Club

Has anyone restored the cardboard type sunvisors with centre fitting for the 56-19 Series III. Mine are in decent nick structurally but showing their age aesthetically. I hesitate to simply paint them as they are pressed cardboard and the pair whose photo I attach as an example are way out of my price range at $389.00 -pretty amazing that not examples have survived.

I'm sure they could be carefully painted. I removed them from my car as I couldn't stop them rattling .
I fitted a slightly later type which may not be original but are nice and quiet!

I am not sure which paint to use and would like to avoid brush marks etc. Mine do rattle a bit but so does the rest of the car......what state were yours in ? I have seen a recovered pair which were not too bad but looked too... new !

Previous owner of my old land rover sprayed the Sunvisors. Must have been ok because I only noticed after I'd had the car for over a year! And I don't plan on changing them any time soon.

Any idea what with (and do not say paint!) I think they always had a matt finish and the stitched but seemed to be slightly differently coloured. Got to mask off the rivets and the metal corner bits. If I could get hold of an old spare I could have a play. I will look at Auto jumbles unless anyone has a spare going, well, ....spare

I had to paint a parcel shelf a while back (as you can't get white ones) and just used normal car aerosols. If you brush it theres a danger of the paint being too thick and you'll loose the embossed grain in the board. They do have a slight sheen on the finish, so matt paint wouldn't look right, the thin coats of off white/beige I used on the parcel shelf worked well as it didn't look too shiny either.

You can always re-cover them in Leatherette. I posted this some years back.
