under dash switch

Hi,

just fitted new choke cable, and stupidly broke the under dash switch (the one that turn speedo light on and off) . I cannot find a new one to replace it. If I solder the three red wires connected into the switch will that be ok (as i'm guessing they make a circuit when the switch is used)? Rather than replace the switch.

Thanks as always for any advice

Rob

If two wires go to one side of switch and one to the other side, I see no reason why you cannot join them up, In effect doing what the switch did. Insulate the wires well though, by using a connector block or as you suggest soldering and insulating tape.

Would not have thought of looking there ! a) available and b) cheap albeit some soldering required.

Thanks everyone, went down solder and insulation tape route. Worked a treat. :D
