I have Lottie the moggie booked for MOT Thursday and have just returned from testing the lights only to find that side lights OK, dipped Beam OK but when I depress floor switch dipped go out and no full beam however the blue main beam light in speedo illuminates. Changed the front light to halogen last year and were working then.
Bad earth or connections maybe ? We have not used car at night since the change.

Easiest first step would be to clean the bullet connectors to the lights, I think the earth is shared with dip beam, if so that seems ok.

Like Les says , bullet connectors first.
It might be the dip switch contacts , surface corrosion through non activity , so working the switch on/off/on/off... repeatedly , might clean them up a bit. A blast of Electrical contact cleaner might assist , if you have some to hand.
No chance of damage to the Main beam wire , blue /white , from switch to headlight is there , if you've done any other recent work under the dash / engine bay ?

I did wonder about the switch but as the main beam warning lamp comes on, it made me think a connection was getting through, if I'm thinking of the circuit correctly.

Thanks for the replies happy to report it would seem to have been a connection problem with the wiring. Have now got full/dipped beams
Fingers crossed for the MOT tomorrow
Thanks again
