Inspection
I did something I would not normally do today, I went to look at a van with no intention to buy. I was in fact a 'time waster', although no one approached me, to have their time wasted! (it was at a dealer) The van was localish so off I went. It was on eBay with a couple of bids but 'reserve not reached'. I had a pretty good look around the vehicle, good points seemed to be the chassis from the external inspection, it appeared to have the original cills with outbreaks of rust here and there, in general I got the impression it had been tarted up to sell, door to wing gaps were iffy and not particularly flush, the roof gutters looked reasonable, although internally, and only on one side, there was a row of small bolts, the rear doors were out of line, the transmission tunnel cover had self tappers holding it in place, viewed from underneath, I did not have access to inside so couldn't lift the carpets, although it looked tidy enough. Wings looked to be freshly undersealed, and a saloon bumper fitted with overiders. Wheels were not the wider type, correct for an E plate but I wouldn't pay £13500 for it. I was just curious as to what you get for the money !

Re: Inspection
Good on you for posting this on this forum and hopefully you won't be accused of it being of your own making by going to look at it and checking it out and wasting only your time so that others can read about it and possibly saving someone's precious time.

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
Re: Inspection
No plate on the n/s door and I didn't get inside to check the plates, thought I was lucky to view it without someone giving me any sales talk, so didn't want to ask for keys.
What makes you think it was po van?

Re: Inspection
OK put us out of our misery, what are they?
Re: Inspection
I hope you don't mean the rear towing brackets, as although the van had these, they were not original !----- and mud flaps.

Re: Inspection
Easy one is the reinforcing plates welded half-way up the cargo area vertical struts - for the bins on Engineering vans & the 2 holes on the engine bay b/head for the Screenjet washer bottle bkt.firedrake1942 wrote:OK put us out of our misery, what are they?

Re: Inspection
If you're REALLY good I'll explain why the LAST LCV production Chassis number - always "officially" quoted as 327369 - is incorrect... ...firedrake1942 wrote:I am SOOOOO glad I asked!
