TDV102 - did it survive?

Anyone know how I can find what happened to my old minor after I sold it in 1987 and it's buyer sold the plate? I have no other info than the plate and the fact that it was a 1955 SII 2 door with a 948cc engine and in clarendon grey. It was doggy round the edges but essentially sound down the middle due to a longstanding oil seepage!

DVLA does not seem to like the VRM

I know that the plate now resides on a BMW (Sacrilege unless it's a CSL 'Batmobile'). Will DVLA be able to cross refer to the replacement plate?

DVLA won't give details of the new plate, even though they have the records. Has anyone encountered a 55 in clarendon grey with what looks like a mug ringmark in the paint on the roof above the driver side B pillar?
