How do I drain fuel on a Traveller?

Hi, my 66 Traveller has been standing for far too long and I want to get it going again this year. Can anyone advise as to how to drain the fuel (tank etc) as the fuel will be very stale?
Thanks.

Haven't you got a drain bolt fitted underneath the tank?

Have you tried the drain plug in the tank? The original tanks had this feature but I'm not sure if replacements do. Otherwise use the pump to "pull" the stale petrol through into a petrol can. This should get most of it out.

Mike,
What do call 'far too long'? More than a year or so, maybe yes, but otherwise I would not see any need to drain it. The longest I have used old fuel was after around 8 years, and the original very well-modified 948 engine started on it reluctantly, but definitely did not run very well - drained it out and used it in the mower that didn't bat an eyelid!
Certainly the easiest way is to use the tank drain plug - is one fitted?
Our 1380 is not used very much in the winter, but in early January this year it started quite normally after ~3 months, and when I go to start it next weekend I would expect it to do the same again. Normally it is in a very cosy, dry garage, but since last October it has been in a friend's unheated garage, whilst her 90-year old Austin 7 has been receiving major mechanical attention in our garage after the crankshaft broke cleanly into 2 pieces!

if your tank is not that full you could fill it with tesco 99 unleaded and this should dilute the old petrol
