M1000/Mini heater in a circa 1963 body

Hello.

I've always had MMs with the sidevalve engine so this 'modern' 1963 car is all a bit new for me. I have the lazy heater with the round heat exchanger and a link through the toe-board to give fresh air. In the shed I have a modified Minor 1000 heater with the Mini double fan that uses the big elephant trunk hose. Can I use this heater in the car without too much aggro? I assume that the water hoses come through in the right places and that I can just ignore the fresh air intake absence? Are there any extra mounting brackets required?

Thanks

Rob, with no heat and foggy windows.

Hi Rob,

Not something I have experience of myself, but it's detailed in the Workshop Manual. In Issue 3 (the version that is/was available online), the upgrade is covered by section SS.6. I think it was a fairly common upgrade back in the day. Good luck!

I fitted a similar heater many years ago to a 62 car. It worked ok without the fresh air intake. I cannot recall if you needed new holes but it was not a big job to fit I recall
