Hi All
is it possible to fit a aftermarket fuel gauge to the Morris to by pass the original one has I think its on its way out
something like a smiths one??
my Morris is a 1960 with a gold faced speedo

Why not simply replace the gauge in the gold faced speedo ?

its getting hold of one didn't think you could get new ones?

You are right but quite a few second hand. Charles Ware replaced mine recently. Have you checked the wiring and the sender unit which may be a source of problems rather than the gauge itself. There are also complete speedo heads with gauge on flea bay. In extremis the gauges are dismantleable and rebuildable and even, as I recall, a drop of fine oil in the rear hole (fnaar fnaar) may make a difference.

The answer to your original question is yes,but make sure the sender and gauge are matched or you'll get inaccurate readings.

Hi mate as for colour that's a good question as I have been trying to find that out LOL

It should be identifiable from the car number on the chassis plate or stamped into the bulkhead.

Mine is 1957 Clarendon grey and darker than yours. Yours looks about 1960 /61 with the larger front sidelights

You might find the BMC paint guide on Charles Wares site useful as it shows what years paint colours were used in.
