No Dipped Beam.

Hi. Had no dipped beam on my 1967 four door saloon, but wasn't worried as I had some Halogen conversion headlights to fit and thought the problem was the old units. However after fitting them this morning, I find the lights still only work on main beam. Could the problem be the floor mounted dip switch?
Thanks.

It would be the first place I'd check. Either lucar connector wire disconnected or general dirt / carpet fluff etc. Out with a torch ,dust pan and brush or hoover to see what you got.
If you have main beam working , the feed to dipswitch U ( Blue ) is OK and wire out to Main beam UW ( Blue / White tracer ) is OK , that's 2 out of 3 OK.
The one you're checking on is line out for Dipped UR ( Blue /Red tracer ). If the connector on the dipswitch is OK and making good contact then there are 2 ( two ) bullet connectors to check between the dipswitch and the Headlights themselves. If the wire has been disturbed / fallen out it will be obvious. It's worth taking the bullet connectors apart , to make sure the metal is clean and making good electrical contact.
With a multi meter ( and the lights ON ) you should see battery voltage DC ( 12.6 / 12.7 volts' ish ) switch off as soon as you done a check
otherwise the battery will drain down.

Thanks for that, Bob. Hopefully I can get onto it next weekend.
Cheers.
