could someone tell me when fitting a rear windscreen do you fit the rubber to to the glass and seal then fit the screen from inside the car and seal or fit the rubber to the car first and seal then fit the glass from inside the car and seal ??

fit the rubber to the glass then fit the whole shooting match from inside. B**gger of a job. I eventually gave in and got a pro to fit mine, which is against my religion. Even he found he had to use a lot of bad language.......

one of my manuals says
put the rubber on the window. Put a string in the nut round the rubber where it should fit the window frame. Place the window from inside the car with the string showing to outside and let it hold by a assistant. pull the string fron outside to lift the flange of the rubber seal over the frame into place.

i would have done it from outside to inside for this is the way i have done this on several cars before. But, i think, someone would have a good reason to do it the other way round. Would be interesting if someone knows why

I fitted my small rear window which went really well and I would imagine it's fitted from the inside as the inner flange is much bigger than the outer.

As Alan says the flange is much bigger on the inside and it also covers the edge of the headcloth. Not a pleasant job to do, Ive fitted several and most of them end up with a little nick out of the rubber somewhere. Would also say its a 3 person job, 2 holding from the inside and one to work a screwdriver to get the edge started and then pull on the string.

You can see that sort of thing in a carpark near us on certain nights!
