Blending in the touch-up paint

Hello,

Just used a bit of touch-up paint to cover a small bit of bare metal. The touch-up is slightly lighter than the original paint and it protrudes slightly.

How can I sort this? Should I gently wet sand it until flat and wax or what?

Thanks

spot repairs are notoriously difficult to hide, most pro shops will do the full panel to prevent it.

the colour .........not much you can do about it, get the correct blend and do it again.

the uneven/high raised edges.... if you wet flat it you will still see the edge and you risk cutting through the surrounding paint in the attempt to blend............. the problem is if you mask round the repair you get a build up of paint round the edge of the masking. a way round it is to mask off well away from the edge and then place another strip of tape ontop of the first but slightly overlapping, then lift the edge of the top tape so that there is a cavity under the edge ,then when you spray the under side of the tape edge gets a lighter dusting than the centre so its almost already blended to an extent.
Or just mask off surrounding panels and spray the spot, then you get an area of dry dull paint round the repair and a shiny centre on the repair, then flat the whole lot with T cut or rubbing compound to get rid of the dry dusted area.

either way unless you get the colour right you will still see the repair, the only way is to spray the whole door, wing etc
This is why pros charge a mortgage for any paintwork,

if you've just used a brush type touch up then just put up with it, the paint will be thick and difficult to blend in,without rubbing through the old paint at the edge.
Good luck with it
