My 58 traveller rear wheel cylinder is seized solid so had a spare ready to go on, after the getting the pipe off and banjo with the bleeder away i find the cylinder will not go past the hub, Is it a case of moving the hub forward or am i missing something. :-?

I am not sure what you are asking by your description and don't know what a "hun" is. I am guessing you mean you can't get the cylinder out of the brake back plate and if that is the case then the answer is it is a tight fit so you have to force it out and the new one back in. I did it with a leather mallet. Just be forceful, careful and patient and you will get it done. Before fitting the new cylinder get a bit of fresh brake fluid in it otherwise as the bleed nipple is before the cylinder it's a bu@@er bleeding the air out of it. Oh and as per Roy place a bit of red rubber grease round the outside of the piston too.

Thanks Amgrave, the "hun" is meant to be hub, Thanks for the info with the mallet but i got to the point where i moved the bearing away and gave everything a clean, but when i refit i will add some brake fluid in the new cylinder and the red rubber grease seems a good idea.

The pattern cylinders are a terrible fit in this respect and sometimes need fettling with a file. The genuine cylinders are normally better, and usually just rotating the hib slightly will give sufficient clearance, albeit still with a bit of effort.

The hun is now a hib

It is a bit of a juggling act to get in.

Be sure to fit a new copper washer ( or soften up the existing by annealing) to the Banjo connection set up once it is in. That is a frequent cause of leaks.
