CHROME PARTS QUALITY

Good evening, new to MMOC and just joined, apologies if this has already been asked/answered elsewhere.
My minor needs new chrome around the grill area and after looking online I was surprised to see so many Minor specialists out there.
The parts I need are at varying prices between each specialist, some advertise their parts are better quality.
Anyone any idea if this is the case or are they ultimately produced by the same company.
Regards

Welcome to the MMOC.
The quality of chrome finished parts does leave a lot to be desired these days but some parts are better than others.
No doubt others on this forum have had similar experience and can point you in the right direction.
Search 'e' bay for BMC/BL New Old Stock (NOS).
Whilst the parts you require do not become available every day it is surprising what is out there, keep your eyes peeled for that illusive part.
I am always picking up NOS Minor parts off 'e' bay and many of those parts are genuine BMC/BL and still in their BMC boxes.

Hi, Welcome to the club........As above try to source new old stock parts.
Certain items such as headlight rims, hubcaps and sill finishers are available in polished stainless steel and I have used these on my series 2 to eliminate the problem of poor quality flaking chrome on modern pattern parts.

Above is all good advice. With many parts the same castings are used by all the suppliers but then finished to different specifications. My experience has been that for modern chrome you won't go wrong buying from Morris Minor Centre (Birmingham) / David Manners Group.

Hello,
I'd go along with Birmingham too. My bumper blades came from them and they're good. Its not to say other suppliers don't supply good ones too but my experience with them was much better than the first blade I bought from somewhere else which lasted a year before rust came through. Its been mentioned on here before but good quality chrome plating usually has a layer of copper plating on the steel before the chrome goes on. If you have a preferred supplier, just ask if theirs has the copper layer before you buy. If not or they don't know, then don't buy from them.
Best wishes, Colin.

Do the blades from David Manners fit well? I am thinking of getting a rear bumper blade and overriders. Thanks.
