Rear Shock Absorber/Damper

hi all
i need to change both rear damper units.Does any one know what size spanner/socket the fixing bolts/nuts are.i have tried to get a socket on but my socket is to fat (wall thickness of socket ) on the damper unit side.

If I remember correctly a 5/8" af socket fits. You will need a ring spanner on the inner bolt head as it's tight in there.

Unless someone has changed the bolts the spanner required is 3/8" BS - 5/16Whit.

the trouble im having is finding a socket that i can fit on to the nut.
their is no clearance between the damper unit and the nut.
i cant even get a spanner on to the nut.

You can never have enough spanners and sockets, so if ever anyone offers you some 'they are never going to need again', grab them with both hands.

What size socket are you trying to use?
Normally there is enough clearance to enable the correct spanner or socket to fit.
If you must use a socket and it is too large a OD run the side of the socket against a grind stone to reduce the diameter if that is what is required.
It may be of benefit to use a 3/8" drive 5/16" WW socket. The 3/8" drive socket I have is only 21.7mm OD.
The 3/8" drive socket is more than man enough to do the job.
