Numberplate Light

Not exactly an electrical problem but........I fitted a new numberplate light about two years ago but it has always leaked into the boot. The problem seems to be the lamp unit doesn't fit correctly to the rubber gasket/seal - it just won't sit in the groove properly. Also, I notice the new rubber gasket is not a complete piece like the old (perished) one. It has a piece 'missing' from the centre.
Has anyone else had this problem and can they suggest a cure?
Cheers,
Pete

I just used a bit of silicone. That sorted it.

Jolly good Steve, but a pity the damn things aren't made properly like they used to be!

I used some sticky back neoprene strip to make a gasket and cut it down slightly but remember to leave a slight gap at the bottom otherwise the glass mists up inside.

Thanks Richard. That's a good idea!

You know, this is just a typical example of the frustration we all have about carp repro parts. I'd happily pay more for better quality bits!
