Non-starter, not the battery

Hi all
Since my last posting I have checked and rechecked
and finally replaced the battery, only to find that, two weeks on,
the non starting has reared its ugly head once more.
I have a new battery, dynamo,spark plugs, and once it's started,
the car runs....aaarrrrggghhh.
Any advice much welcome.

Do we assume that non starting is because the battery goes flat if left? If that's the case then you have something drawing current when it shouldn't be.
There isn't much electrical kit on a Moggy that can cause this and the fuses are primitive, but best place to start is by getting an ammeter and connecting it in series with the battery with everything switched off. Then if there's a current flow you know you've a problem.
Most likely explanation is a dodgy regulator.

It could also be going flat during driving - will it restart at the end of a long drive, or is it just when it has been left overnight?

I'm going to be fitting a battery isolator to Phoebe after I pick her up tomorrow...
This should save any similar battery problems, although I will leave it off for a few days to see if there are any charge problems. She has nothing that needs permanent power and it will also act as a security device! So she will be juiceless as it were and a nice new Disklok to go with it as well

Wow, that looks amazing Lee.
Does it mean that when the car is still nothing can drain (or move) it?

They are all over ebay for about £6 + P&P, just search for item number '7964764698' thats the 1 I have purchased. It cost me £7.75 inc. P&P.
I'm going to fit mine between the POS (earth still ;) ) and the starter solenoid to isolate the whole car! No more flat batteries and nobody but me can start it, especially as the block part of the isolator will be descreetly hidden ;)
