1098 minor manifold question

Post by Motojohn »

Hey folks, this will be a daft question to anyone that knows the answer but could you tell me if the Morris minor 1098 manifold is the same as a mini manifold.
Also what manifold combo are you guys running when you upgrade to hif 38 carb?

Regards
John

Here's how I did it. I've got a HS4 fitted but the 38 will go straight on

I had a Mini 1100 combined manifold on for a while before I fitted the alloy inlet and Midget exhaust manifold.

Nice one! As a temporary measure I suppose if you didn't mind killing a manifold you could cut the inlet part off the exhaust part. Would be a bit ruff but should work.
Not pretty :o

From memory, the Mini manifold that is similar to the Minor but takes a 38mm/1.5 inch carb has a part number cast in like "12A787". The 787 bit always stuck in my mind.

Edit. Found it...12G787

You certainly could but be careful where you cut, you don't want to chop into the divide.

And the standard Minor exhaust will fit straight on, very restrictive though if using a 12G940 head and 1 1/2" carb

Yeah I thought it would be restrictive, I've got a 40 dcoe and inlet manifold kicking around also but reckon would be too much for this little lady! But would be better with a lcb exhaust manifold free flowing and the hif carb

The LCB will be good with the MG cam but not so good with the standard one I'm told.
